Scripts that fit the picture and the culture.
Media translation is constrained work, the line has to mean the right thing, land the right way and fit the time available. TrendsUp Media translates and transcreates scripts for dubbing, subtitling and voice-over with those constraints in the room from the start.
The same line, translated literally and transcreated.
A good translation can still be unusable.
Media translation is judged on accuracy and on whether it can be performed in the time available.
Too long to perform
An accurate Hindi rendering of an English line can run half again as long.
Rushed performance
The performer rushes, the performance flattens and the sync breaks.
Timecode visible
We translate with the timecode in view and the sync requirement known.
The real question
What does this mean, said naturally, in this many seconds?
When we translate, and when we rewrite.
Translation
Meaning carried across as directly as the target language allows. Most dialogue works this way.
Transcreation
Rewritten for effect where a direct rendering fails: wordplay, cultural jokes, slogans, titles, idiom.
Transcreation is a deliberate, flagged decision, never license to depart from the source. When we do it, we tell you why.
Glossaries matter more than you think.
Across a 200-episode series with rotating translators, inconsistent terms become continuity failures. Our project glossary covers character names and forms of address, place names, invented and technical terms, recurring phrases and each character's register. It is locked before translation and applied to every episode and every stage, subtitles included, per language on multi-language releases.
Getting the register right.
In many languages formality is grammar. Getting it wrong changes what the scene means.
Hindi
Register example pending native-linguist review.
French
Register example pending native-linguist review.
Our translators document these choices in the glossary and revise them as the story moves. Cultural review flags anything inappropriate, unintentionally comic or offensive.
Deliverables.
Dubbing scripts with timings, subtitle-ready translations, voice-over and narration scripts, on-screen text and graphics copy, song and lyric adaptation where a singable version is required, and project glossaries, in the format your workflow needs.
